About David
Meet David Martinez
​
David began a journey to serve his country and community by enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps. During his service, he married his lovely wife, Cindy, who is also a Marine. They have built an early life together, being married for 23 years and are proud parents of two children. David was a Sergeant of Marines, became a Reserve Police Officer with the Port Royal Police Department in South Carolina, and earned a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. After leaving the Marine Corps, David and Cindy relocated to Gwinnett County in 2005, where David took on the role of a Gwinnett County Police Officer, continuing his commitment to helping others and embodying the spirit of community leadership.

As a Gwinnett County Police Officer, David reached the rank of Sergeant, undertook many leadership assignments, and earned a Master's degree in Criminal Justice. In 2020, David embarked on a new path and resigned as a Sergeant from the Police Department in good standing. With over 20 years of public service as a Marine and Police Officer, he became a retired Police Officer with the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (GA POST).
Today, David owns a family business. With the support of family and community, David Martinez is prepared to continue his public service in the City of Suwanee by ensuring our community and future generations may continue to call Suwanee Home.
